Planning a Red Rock Canyon Day Trip by Private SUV

TDF Editorial·June 24, 2026·6 min read

The 13-mile scenic loop is stunning — but only if you plan the timing, stops, and hydration right. Here's how our chauffeurs route the perfect half-day escape from the Strip this summer.

Red Rock Canyon is 25 minutes from the Strip and feels like a different planet. The 13-mile one-way scenic loop is best enjoyed early — we typically depart around 6:30 AM in summer and 7:30 AM in cooler months, so you're at the first overlook before the desert light gets harsh.

Our Suburban is ideal for this trip: elevated seating for the sandstone views, deeply cooled interior for the return, and plenty of room for camera gear, jackets, and the cold bottled water we always bring along. Remember that a timed-entry reservation is still required for the scenic drive most of the year — we handle it in advance.

Recommended stops: Calico Hills for the first golden-hour photos, High Point Overlook for the panoramic shot, and Ice Box Canyon if guests want a short shaded walk. We can also add a stop at the Red Rock Casino on the way back for a proper sit-down lunch.

A typical Red Rock experience runs 4 to 5 hours door-to-door with an hourly chauffeur — comfortable pacing, no rushing, and everything on your timing. In July and August we strongly recommend finishing the loop before 10 AM.
